1. What is the cost of translating an international language?
 
It is the responsibility of the requesting agency to arrange and pay for all script translation fees, all DVD authoring fees, all replication fees, all distribution fees and all promotional fees. As well, Illustra Media must be reimbursed, in advance, for all master duplication and shipping fees. A duplication price schedule is provided here as an approximate guideline, however, some fees may change without notice.

2. What fees are charged for translation licensing?
 

Illustra Media does not charge a licensing fee, However, we do require that royalty be paid for units sold of the translated version. Currently the recommended percentage is 10% of retail. Details of the arrangement in the licensing contract.

3. How are international language translations funded?
 

Each language project is funded by the licensee. Illustra Media, in most cases does not have funding available to underwrite language translations.

5. Who does the translation work?

Illustra Media will only to provide English master materials. All translation and production work shall accomplished by the licensee or by production facilities hired by the licensee. Illustra Media will not be responsible for costs incurred by the licensee for any reason, including late arrival of materials or materials unsuitable for production purposes. Illustra Media will replace defective master duplicates that we provide.

6. Why must a questionnaire be filled out by the applicant?
 

The questionnaire will aid Illustra Media in determining the ability of the requesting agency to make a high quality translation of our productions. The questions should be answered with a view toward identifying for us the professional competence of your organization to accomplish the translation project. As well, the questionnaire will allow us to formulate a contract tailored to your specific needs.

7. Who own's the copyright on translated videos?
Illustra Media will hold the copyright on all translated productions, packaging and related materials, regardless of who does the work.
8. What royalties must be paid to Illustra Media?
 
Royalties shall be paid to Illustra Media according to the provisions of each individual contract. Licensee may recoup production costs prior to paying royalties.

9. What materials are available to make the translations?

10. Who owns the copyrights for translated versions?
 

Illustra Media retains the right to manufacture and distribute all international Language translations in North America. Licensee shall provide Completed translation on a DVcam NTSC master for our files and domestic distribution.

11. Is financing assistance offered for translations?
 
No, all financing must be provided or arranged by the licensee.

12. What are the steps to completing a translation?
 
1. INITIAL CONTACT
Potential licensee (applicant) contacts Illustra Media via our web contact page
From this page applicant will be sent a “Questionnaire” for submission to Illustra Media. Please be very detailed and specific regarding you plans for distribution of the video you are requesting to translate. Many organizations request translation privileges and we must determine which are the most qualified.

2. QUESTIONNAIRE RETURNED
Once the questionnaire is received from the applicant and reviewed as needed by Illustra Media the translation coordinator will dialog with applicant and determine suitability of applicant to meet our requirements for an international translation license.

3. LICENSE APPROVAL
Upon approval of application and dialog with applicant, Illustra Media will send an applicable contract to the applicant to be signed and returned via postal mail or courier. The contract shall govern all relationship with the licensee.

4. RECEIVE CONTRACT / SEND SCRIPT
Upon receipt of signed contract Illustra Media will supply necessary scripts via internet downloads.

5. RECEIVE TRANSLATED SCRIPT
Licensee will commence translation and supply Illustra Media with a copy for our records and quality control purposes. Illustra Media will grant permission to record narration tracks based upon our approval of the translated script.

6. SEND RESOURCE ORDER FORM LINK
When Illustra Media has approved the translated script the licensee will be provided with a link and will be instructed to download and complete the “Duplicate Master Order Form” available via the internet. Illustra Media will not be responsible for incorrect ordering. Please be sure that you understand what materials you are ordering and that they are appropriate for your needs.

7. ORDER RECIEPT, REVIEW AND PRICE QUOTE
When the licensee’s “Duplicate Master Order Form” is received and reviewed by Illustra Media we will send a cost quote and provide the necessary information for credit card payment or international bank to bank wire transfer payment of funds necessary to cover the duplication, shipping and handling of duplicate video masters for translation production work by the licensee.

8. ORDER & SHIP DUPLICATE MASTERS AND RESOURCES DVD
Upon notification from the licensee and our local bank of completion of the wire transfer of funds, Illustra Media will order and ship within 30 days the ordered duplicate masters. As well, Illustra Media will include a data DVD containing production materials and resources, such as alternate audio tracks, packaging, DVD elements and promotional materials. Licensee will ascertain that all materials provided by Illustra Media are suitable for their production needs prior to contracting professional production services. Illustra Media will not be held financially responsible for materials inappropriately ordered or delayed in shipment for any reason. We will replace returned defective materials with identical materials, translation agency will be responsible for shipping.

9. FINAL RELEASE CHECK PRINT
Licensee, upon completion of its final translated product, shall submit to Illustra Media 10 copies of the finished package and media contents for approval and review.

10. RECEIVE TRANSLATED MASTER
Upon completion of production and approval, licensee shall provide Illustra Media a DVcam NTSC master of the translated program

11. LICENSEE REPORTS
Licensee shall, as provided by the signed contract, provide regular reports and royalty payments.

13. What materials are included on the free data DVD?

When Translation Applicants order masters for production, Illustra Media includes a free data DVD, which includes these listed materials for use in their translation project:
